Love sand art? World’s first online sand art course to launch in March 2018

first_imgSudarshan Pattnaik, the sand artist’s dream of taking the art form to art enthusiasts with an online course will soon become a reality with the support of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the HRD ministry.The course is about to launch in the month of March 2018 with the support of IGNOU as it can help in creating wider reach for the audience.About the online sand art course:The course was announced almost a year back, scheduled for launch in March 2018, will be world’s first certificate course in sand artThe course will begin before March 31, 2018. The work has already been started for the project and video lectures have been prepared alreadyIt has to be fine-tuned as per MOOC’S (massive open online courses) normsMany of the artist’s overseas friends were also keen on taking the initiative forward in their respective countriesBoth theory and practical model of the courses will be prepared for the programme:In theory, the students will learn about selection of sand, use of water, measurement of sand and use of props while making the art, carving, how to form pyramid shape and the whole process of making a sculpture on sandVarious videos will be made displaying the making of a sculpture on sand and will be put online through IGNOU’s website for students. The videos will give them ample of knowledge from selecting and gathering of sand to give finishing touch to the sculptureAccording to the artist, several brilliant sand artists lag behind due to the absence of the required academic background.advertisementPattnaik want India to be the first country to offer sand art training:The sand artist wants India to become the first country across the globe to offer sand art training to sand artists and he has noticed the number of such artists are increasing now.”I want to give a platform to upcoming sand artists. I have submitted the course design and syllabus and will now fine tune this.
