Watford boss Gracia: Doucoure? The owners must decideby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveWatford boss Javi Gracia retains hope of keeping hold of Abdoulaye Doucoure. The French midfielder is being linked with PSG as a replacement for wantaway playmaker Adrien Rabiot.Gracia told Sky Sports: “Last season, every week we talked about Liverpool or Everton, all the clubs that were interested in him. We can still talk about it. For me, Doucouré is a great player, a very important player for us. “I do not know what will happen. It does not surprise me that other clubs want to sign him because he is a very good player.”He added: “It’s important for the club and the owner to know how important he is to us. But after that, they will choose what is best for the club. Sometimes, some players, like last season with Richarlison, decide themselves. It could happen again. We do not want him to leave, but it’s football.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Liverpool defender Van Dijk: Everyone wants to beat usby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveLiverpool defender Virgil van Dijk insists they can handle being a big target this season.Liverpool became the first side since AC Milan in 1994 to lose the first match of their Champions League defence and the 2-0 reverse in Naples, which featured a rare Van Dijk mistake, has put pressure on their next game against Red Bull Salzburg in two weeks. “Everyone wants to beat us, no matter what competition,” said Van Dijk.”That’s something we have to deal with, but that’s not going to be a problem — we have to enjoy it as well.”For Napoli to win their first game is obviously big, for us to lose our first game is obviously not want we wanted. We have to try to win our other games and we now focus on going to Chelsea.”
Man Utd midfielder Andreas Pereira under no illusions about size of Liverpool clashby Paul Vegas5 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is under no illusions about the size of their clash with Liverpool today.Pereira was born in Belgium and plays for Brazil, but he was reared in the United academy and knows how important beating Liverpool is for everyone connected to the club.”I think you can compare it with Boca Juniors-River Plate, Santos-Corinthians, Flamengo-Fluminense,” he told United Review.”It’s one of the biggest derbies like El Clasico – Real Madrid versus Barcelona – and one of the biggest games, not only in England but in the world.”Everyone will be watching and it’s most important for us, and for the fans.”I always watched these games at home with my dad and my family. You know, I was always very curious and supporting United.”I think it means a lot to us. It’s one of the most important games of the year – it’s the derby and we absolutely want to win this game.”We will do absolutely everything to win it. I know we’re not living the best moment right now, and we’re not getting results, but I think it’s a derby and it is always a different game.”Absolutely, we want to win it – everyone at the club, everyone in the team and the staff.”We all want to do everything to win the game and it can be a nice bounce back and provide a nice lift for us to start getting results.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
SUNRISE, FL – DECEMBER 21: NCAA basketballs in a rack on the court during the shoot-around proipr to the game between the Florida Gators and the Fresno State Bulldogs during the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on December 21, 2013 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. (Photo by Joel Auerbach/Getty Images)The 1990 UNLV basketball team, which defeated Duke by 30 points in the NCAA title game to win its only national championship, was one of the most tightly-knit squads in the sport’s history. And while 25 years may have passed since the team accomplished the feat, it’s clear that they’re still as close as ever.Earlier this week, former Runnin’ Rebels head coach Jerry Tarkanian passed away at the age of 84. To pay homage to their former coach, six former UNLV players – Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, James Jones, Anderson Hunt, Mo Scurry and Chris Jeter – got matching tattoos celebrating his life and their 1990 squad.Johnson and Augmon documented the entire process on Twitter early Wednesday morning.Rip coach Tark LJ Ice Hunt Nice Jeter Mo Scurry pic.twitter.com/4U3cekWNYc— Larry Johnson (@TheRealLJ2) February 18, 2015This is how we remember Coach Tark pic.twitter.com/y3UESuDDcH— Larry Johnson (@TheRealLJ2) February 18, 2015Roommate first, Ice pic.twitter.com/aw7moxPLTX— Larry Johnson (@TheRealLJ2) February 18, 2015MVP Hunt Nice pic.twitter.com/wckyWkplw1— Larry Johnson (@TheRealLJ2) February 18, 2015It’s on me now. pic.twitter.com/k9k0wKSv5m— Larry Johnson (@TheRealLJ2) February 18, 2015James jones pic.twitter.com/tCh9XmWsRu— realstaceyaugmon (@staceyaugmon) February 18, 2015Chris jeter pic.twitter.com/XxY995GuB3— realstaceyaugmon (@staceyaugmon) February 18, 2015Anderson hunt. Cardale Jones May Fools 5Typically, people use April 1st as the date to troll their friends with some kind of unbelievable joke. Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones apparently celebrates the holiday a month late. Friday, Jones took to Twitter to claim that he is transferring to Akron after a “rough decision” on his part. After a few minutes, he came clean, joking that he’d pulled a “May Fools” joke on everyone. It was a rough decision but I think it’s best for me, like to thank OSU for this amazing opportunity but my time here has came to an end— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) May 1, 2015#NewBeginning #FreshStart— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) May 1, 2015#ZipNation— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) May 1, 2015MAY FOOLS— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) May 1, 2015Jones tried to sell the joke hard, even changing his Twitter bio and background page to reflect his new team.Jones is probably the frontrunner for the starting job at Ohio State, so this would have been a shocker. Instead, it was merely some Friday afternoon entertainment.
Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to beat Bayern Munich 3-1 and land another damaging blow against the champions’ Bundesliga title defence.Ex-Borussia Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz did his former club a huge favour despite Leon Goretzka giving Bayern a 41st-minute lead.Leon Bailey launched a fabulous free-kick into the top-left corner before Kevin Volland and substitute Lucas Alario sealed victory for a vibrant Leverkusen, who move up to seventh in the table. Instead of being punished for their 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt, Dortmund’s lead over Bayern at the summit edges up to seven points.Mats Hummels survived an early penalty shout for handball when he blocked Volland’s shot at close quarters.Leverkusen centre-back Sven Bender required treatment after a pair of brave challenges to deny Robert Lewandowski, but his team fell behind shortly before the interval.Kingsley Coman made the most of the hosts’ high line to charge in on goal. Lukas Hradecky saved but Thomas Muller sent the ball back into the box from the right for Goretzka to head home.Lewandowski thought he had made it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time, but a VAR review confirmed he was fractionally offside before stylishly converting Coman’s pass.Bosz’s men made the most of that let-off by restarting on the front foot and Bailey’s wonderful strike brought them level after Coman tripped Volland.Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich scampered towards the same corner to claw Julian Brandt’s 60th-minute volley behind.Coman continued to lead a flagging Bayern challenge and they were clinically sliced apart as Karim Bellarabi crossed for Volland to slot past the advancing Ulreich.James Rodriguez had a close-range header blocked but a late Bayern onslaught never truly materialised before Alario dispatched Brandt’s low cross in the 87th minute.FINALA massive result for the Werkself!!3 great goals and 3 points!#B04FCB | 3-1 pic.twitter.com/JtlxGR84fO— Bayer 04 Leverkusen (@bayer04_en) February 2, 2019What does it mean?Attacking verve, a relentless tempo and a perilously high defensive line – the year Bosz spent contemplating his Dortmund exit has not shaken his principles on the evidence of this thrilling Leverkusen display. Bayern must now make up seven points over the remaining 14 games, with the Bundesliga title slipping a little more from their once-firm gasp.Brilliant Bailey back in the grooveLeverkusen winger Bailey established himself as one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe last season. His absence from January transfer gossip was indicative of a hard slog this term and the 21-year-old had one goal from 25 appearances in all competitions heading into the Bayern match. Hopefully a picture-book goal proves a catalyst as he adapts to an expansive style under Bosz that should suit his talents.Sule fooled on winnerBayern’s defence regularly appeared ill at ease with Leverkusen’s livewire forward line and centre-back Niklas Sule erred badly on the second goal. His decision to leave Volland and launch a desperate lunge on Bellarabi in full flight was flawed in both conception and execution. The Germany international will also not look back on Alario’s goal with any fondness.Key Opta facts- Bayern suffered their fourth league defeat of the season, the same as in the whole of 2017-18.- Efficient: Three of the four Leverkusen shots on target found the back of the net.- David Alaba made his 328th appearance for Bayern in all competitions, drawing level with Uli Hoeneß. What’s next?Bayern travel to Hertha Berlin in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday, 24 hours after Leverkusen take on Heidenheim of 2.Bundesliga in the same competition. read more

Five years after the World Cup, Brazil is preparing to host another major international tournament with the Copa America returning to its shores for the first time since 1989.The action will take place across six venues in five host cities. The opening game is in Sao Paulo on Friday when hosts Brazil take on Bolivia, with the final taking place at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on July 7.Chile are the two-time defending champions having triumphed on home soil on 2015 and the special centenary tournament in the US the following year. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? It will be the last Copa America to be hosted in an odd-numbered year. The tournament will also take place in 2020 and then every four years going forward in order to synchronise with the European Championships. This is also the last tournament to feature 12 teams, with 16 teams entering from 2020 onwards. This year sees Qatar, hosts of the 2022 World Cup, make their Copa America debut and in doing some become the first Arab nation to compete in the tournament. Japan will also feature for the second time and the first since 1999. The presence of Qatar and Japan means the USA miss out. The USMNT finished fourth in their home tournament three years ago after a 4-0 defeat to Argentina in the semi-final before losing 1-0 to Colombia in the third-place play-off.That was the fourth time the US had competed as an invited nation in the Copa America after the 1993, 1995 and 2007 tournaments. However, they will not be present in Brazil along with Mexico, who miss out despite having been an invited team at every tournament since 1993. It means this will be the first Copa America where there have been no teams from CONCACAF competing. With the excitement building ahead of the big kick-off here is how you can watch the action in the US:In the English language, no games will be shown on TV. Instead all 26 matches will be streamed online via subscription service ESPN+.In Spanish language, Telemundo and UNIVERSO have split the rights to the games with 21 matches being broadcast on Telemundo and four matches on Universo. For users on the go, you can stream all the matches on Telemundo Deportes En Vivo or Universo NOW.

COLUMBUS, OH – NOVEMBER 26: Nick Bosa #97 of the Ohio State Buckeyes celebrates a sack against the Michigan Wolverines at Ohio Stadium on November 26, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)Urban Meyer issued a new injury update for star defensive lineman Nick Bosa at his weekly press conference this afternoon. Ohio State’s best defensive player remains out with an injury.Bosa, who underwent a procedure following the Buckeyes’ win over TCU, will be out for a couple of more weeks at least, Meyer announced. This is a blow to Ohio State, which is getting ready for, arguably, its biggest game of the season. The Buckeyes are set to travel to State College, Pa. to take on No. 9 Penn State.Meyer announced this afternoon that Bosa will not be ready for that game.“Nick Bosa is still not ready. It’s going to be a few more weeks,” Meyer announced at his weekly Monday press conference.Bosa, the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, had played at a ridiculously elite level through Ohio State’s first two-plus games. His play was actually getting him some Heisman Trophy hype.Ohio State and Penn State are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. on Saturday. The game will be televised on ABC.
