Thurraya Kent said: “To execute this strategy, General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation (GDEB) has been selected as the prime contractor for OR with the responsibilities to design and deliver the twelve OR submarines. Huntington Ingalls Industries- Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) will participate in the design and construct major OR assemblies and modules leveraging their expertise with VCS (Virginia-class submarine) construction.”The new plan also proposed to continue the construction of two Virginia-class subs per year through at least 2023. This was welcomed by the Rep. Joe Courtney (D-Conn.), whose district includes the Electric Boat yard, as the Navy previously called for building only one in 2021. Laura Trott and Jeremy Irons among speakers at Oxford Union

first_img The first female Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova will be hosted at the Union on Thursday, 3rd November at 5pm. She is also the first Eastern-European to govern the organisation, and has campaigned for many years for gender equality and improved education globally. Aged 21, Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with ALS, and given two years to live. More than fifty years on, he is Director of Research at the Cambridge University Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, most famous for his work with Roger Penrose on Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. With ten Olympic Gold medals between them, Laura Trott and Jason Kenny are two of Great Britain’s most successful sportspeople. Trott is the most decorated female Olympian in British history, while Kenny is the joint holder of the highest number of Olympic Golds for a British athlete. Overdose deaths lead to arrests in Switzerland County

first_imgSwitzerland County, Ind. — The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department has made several arrests following two overdose deaths.First responders found Larry Tingle, 53, and Jerry Lewis, 22, both of Vevay, unresponsive on May 20 in a residence on East State Road 56. Efforts to revive the pair were unsuccessful.The investigation led to a search warrant at the property. As a result, George Harlow, 60, was arrested for possession of narcotics, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. Shane Hopkins, 29, was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance and possession of narcotics. Buster Harlow, 39, was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.Indiana State Police troopers assisted with the investigation.last_img read more
